3rd NATON quarterly meeting 2025

On September 24, 2025, the 3rd NATON quarterly meeting was held virtually, marking the start of the third funding phase of the Network University Medicine (NUM). For the first time, participation was accredited by the Hamburg Medical Association with three CME credits. Following a research lecture by Dr. Helena Radbruch on pegivirus-associated encephalomyelitis in immunosuppressed patients, we were delighted to welcome our new NATON coordinator, Dr. Tina Schaller from the Institute of Pathology at Augsburg University Hospital.

After a brief introduction, Tina Schaller presented the new S1 guideline on autopsies issued by the BDP, in which she was involved and where NATON and NAREG are explicitly mentioned. She also gave an initial outlook on upcoming events – including the NUM Convention in January 2026 as well as the DGP Annual Meeting 2026 in Augsburg.

This was followed by reports from Prof. Dr. Peter Boor and Svenja Windeck on the current status of the NAREG procedure and a review of recent specialist conferences. The meeting concluded, for the first time, with a case report presented by Prof. Dr. Benjamin Ondruschka from the Department of Legal Medicine in Hamburg.
